Bug:  Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) RTM Backup is Backing Up Everything Again
I've seen this happen several times on two different machines. Backup doesn't necessarily back up just changed files. Sometimes, for reasons known only to it, it will decide to back everything up again. As I type, I'm watching this computer back up every file on the computer even though during the last backup (which I kicked off manually two days ago)it did (properly) just the changed files. Last week, I watched as this machine did the backup correctly and the other machine incorrectly backed up every file on the computer. Both machines are running Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) RTM and are backing up to an external drive (one a USB, the other eSATA). When I set up the backups, I told it toautomatically choose what to back up. I'm not confusing the file backup part with the system imaging part.

David,Thanks for reporting this issue. I would like more information to diagnose this issue. 1) What is the size of your backup (full vs incremental). The backup relies on the last change time and we have seen an instance when the last change time changes for the first time when it is indexed (can happen when the files are added to a library or viewed through media player). In this case, only the first incremental backup will backup these files. Can you please confirm that this is the case? This posting is provided "AS IS" without warranties and confers no rights.
